Leicester Mercury Business Awards 2018 to shine a spotlight on not-for-profit organisations

As the great and the good of Leicester’s business community look ahead to the fast approaching Leicester Mercury Business Awards 2018, another company has come on board as a category sponsor. BHIB are independent insurance brokers who have over 50 years’ experience in the industry, working with a wide range of different clients.

Based in the heart of Leicester but working with people across the country, they will be sponsoring the ‘Not For Profit Organisation’ award. Recognising the remarkable impact that the public sector, charities and not-for-profit organisations make to the wider business community, this award considers the financial performance, cultural influence and benefits that the winning business offers the region.

Senior Client Account Executive at BHIB, Chris Hutchins, discussed why they made the decision to sponsor this particular category. He said: “BHIB were delighted to offer sponsorship of this category. We believe it is important to recognise the incredible value that Not For Profit organisations play in the lives of ordinary people and the community. They do this for no financial gain and often in very difficult circumstances, therefore when the opportunity arose, it was a very easy decision to offer our support.”

As one of the most successful businesses in Leicestershire, supporting events such as the awards shows BHIB’s willingness to contribute to the business success of the region as a whole. However, sponsoring the awards is not the only contribution the company make to the business community as Chris explained: “Although our main business activity is insurance brokering, we also strive to be seen as valued business advisors and look to share our experiences with our clients and others in the broader business community. BHIB are founder members of The Brokerbility Group, a business based in Leicester made up of 35 UK Brokers and a Group spend in excess of £500m which flows through our Leicester offices and generates business activity and employment opportunities beyond our business.”

He continued: “We are also responding to the government growth action plan by way of the Brokerbility Academy – a unique apprenticeship programme tailored specifically for the insurance industry.”

This year the black-tie ceremony will be held at the Maher Centre in the heart of Leicester and is set to be attended by the region’s business stars who will all be hoping to walk away with one of the coveted prizes.
