The judging period for the Leicester Mercury Business 2018 is now underway with companies from across the region having done all they can to stake their claim for one of the coveted awards.
Not only is it big companies that are acknowledged at the awards, but businesses of all sizes and types are in with a chance of success at the ceremony. Focusing on the small and medium sized businesses in Leicester, the ‘SME Business of the Year’ award offers the chance for those companies who may not get the recognition they deserve, to enjoy the spotlight.
This year the ‘SME Business of the Year’ category will be sponsored by specialists in electrical contracting, LED lighting design & Supply, Ventola Projects Ltd. The firm offer a range of LED lighting, shop fitting and building maintenance services to people across the country and internationally.
Being an SME business themselves, Ventola Projects understand what it is like to be a company of this size but have not let it hold them back. They have completed work worldwide including in Doha on the illustrious Royal Palace of Sheikh Al Thani in 2016 and recently at Ballys Hotel in Las Vegas. They provided a new VAvR LED system at leisure facilities at both locations and Managing Director, Mick Ventola, discussed why they chose to sponsor this award.
He said: “This is our fourth year sponsoring the ‘SME Business of the Year’ award and by sponsoring we are actively being involved in the success of likeminded individuals owning small to medium sized businesses. We know what pressures are involved in gaining recognition in the Leicester business community so want to show our support for those companies. The Leicester Mercury Business Awards not only has a tried and tested formula to bring great business awareness to those nominated and winning these prestigious awards but also to the sponsors bringing great brand awareness to the local area and further afield.”
It is important to show support to small businesses in the local area, and events such as the Leicester Mercury Business Awards 2018 go a long way to doing this. Mick highlighted what his company do to help businesses in the region. He said: “Ventola Projects Ltd contributes by not only specialising in our services for a wide number of business sectors within the local area but also utilising our great central location to supply our products and services throughout the UK and overseas. We have recently been working with local government representatives from the Department of International Trade who recognise the potential Leicester has, allowing us to further expand our client base into the USA and Middle East in recent years as we always strive to use locally made products and utilise my team who are also locally based. Also wanting to support the wider community, we have also begun to sponsor girls grass roots football in the city getting many other local businesses involved.”
With the judging period for the awards getting underway, finalists’ attentions will soon be turning to the ceremony itself which this year is taking place on 12 April at the Maher Centre.
