Local businesses go head to head in ‘Customer Service Excellence Award’

The saying goes that the 'customer is always right' and at this year's Leicester Mercury Business Awards, those lova businesses who strive to make the saying true, will be hoping to get their hands on one of the coveted awards.

New to this year's awards, the 'Customer Service Excellence Award' recognises those companies that make the customer service aspect of their business a priority, by going that extra mile on a regular basis. Nominations for this year's awards have noe closed with businesses from across the region are now facing an anxious wait to discover if they have done enough to be shortlisted as a finalist.

One business who will be hoping that they will be sucessful this year is estate agency Hortons. Combining both traditional property buying methods as awell as incorporating an online aspect, they provide a 'best of both worlds' approach to their customers. Understanding that moving hosue can be one of the most stressful times of someone's life, Hortons aim to remove all of this stress and provide a straightforward and effective service.

Communication is important throughout the process when it comes to buying a property and Hortons have made it incredibly simple to get in touch with their estate agency. Open seven days a week between 8am-8p, they also use the latest technology, so people can make bookings from their phones all helping to enhance the customer's experience. Hortons have also entered the 'Start-Up Business of the Year' category.

Another potential finalist who have high hopes of claiming the 'Customer Service Excellence Award' is live music restaurant, Bistro Live. Ensuring that guests always have a night to remember, Bistro Live is the perfect venue for birthday parties, hen nights, Christmas parties and a whole host of corporate functions. With over 70,000 peope attending their venue every year, the business has built up a reputation for their excellent customer service values. Over 97% of guests who filled out the company's customer service survey, said that they would recommend the venue to friends and their Leicester branch has won the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence Award every year since 2013 due to their fantastic customer service. Mark Henderson, Director and Co-Owner at Bistro Live Leicester, expresed how much winning this award would mean to their business, "Our team in Leicester work incredibly hard week in week out to ensure that every customer has a night out to remember at Bistro Live. Winning the best Customer Service Excellence Award would be a great reward for all of their hard work".

These three businesses are just a select few of the nominees who are hoping to be at the black-tie ceremony which this year takes place at the Maher Centre in the heart of Leicester. It will be down to category sponsors, Global Payments to make the final decision over who willl make that final shortlist and the overall winners. Nominees will discover if they have been lucky enough to make the final shortlist on 5 March 2018, before the ceremony itself takes place on 12 April.
