With the judging period now closed, potential finalists are set to find out whether they have made the shortlist for the Leicester Mercury Business Awards 2018. As one of the biggest radio stations in the East Midlands, Smooth Radio were keen to get involved with this year’s awards and will act as the event’s Champagne sponsor.
Taking place at the Maher Centre on 12 April, the awards offer the chance for businesses of all sizes and from a range of sectors, to be recognised for their efforts in the regional business community. Ross Wilson is the Station Director at Smooth Radio and discussed why the station supports the awards.
He said: “We ourselves stand strong in Leicester’s business community and have established long-term and solid relationships. These awards celebrate those partnerships, as well providing an opportunity to create new ones. We pride ourselves in having a positive impact on its customers, listeners and employees, living the company mission ‘We’re Radio People who Make a Difference’ and are proud to support the recognition of overachievement in the East Midlands region.”
With over 400,000 listeners tuning in to the show on a weekly basis, the station has a significant presence in the region and they regularly contribute to Leicester’s business community, and Ross discussed how: “Our support of the local community extends to our own clients, who are looking to thrive in the region increasing their customer base and market share. So, we will continue to use our audience reach to help them achieve the best results for their business. We have a talented team of presenters who cater to all listeners’ music preferences and provide content that is always creative, visual, interactive and innovative. Our primary aim over the next 12 months is to continue to broadcast a first class mix of music and conversation for our dedicated listeners on all platforms.”
He continued; “The city is a thriving place for businesses to be based and as a commercial radio station covering Leicestershire we always try to support the local business community. We like to give back to and recognise particular organisations and individuals that have contributed in some way to our thriving area.”
From retailers to manufacturers, the awards acknowledge people from every area of business celebrating their successes from the last 12 months. The black-tie event will be attended by the shortlisted finalists as well as category sponsors who will take to the stage to hand out the coveted prizes. With 14 award categories on offer, nominees will discover if they have made it onto the shortlist next month.
