Marigot Bay Resort confirmed as entertainment sponsor

With its blue oceans and white sandy beaches, Marigot Bay was once described as ‘the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean’ by famed American novelist, James A Michener. Now, in 2018 Marigot Bay Resort & Marina by Capella, Saint Lucia are bringing a touch of the Caribbean to the Leicester Mercury Business Awards as they come on board as this year’s entertainment sponsors.

Taking place at the Maher Centre on 12 April, the Leicester Mercury Business Awards brings together the great and the good of the region’s business community for a wonderful night of celebration. Finalists will be hoping to win one of the 14 coveted awards up for grabs on the night which will see company’s both big and small acknowledged.

This year entertainment will be provided by Britain’s Got Talent stars, The Garnett Family. Since making it to the semi-finals of the competition in 2016, Helen and her three daughters who make up the band have performed at events all over the world. They will be sponsored by Marigot Bay Resort & Marina by Capella, Saint Lucia whose Caribbean Sales Manager, Lisa Campbell, explained why they chose to get on board with the awards.

She said: “The main reason we decided to sponsor the awards was to engage with an audience of professionals looking to take their meetings into a new environment, thus stimulating creative thoughts and proposals for businesses to best target their customers. Business professionals are a big focus for our company, and the setting we can offer is a perfect place to re-engage and motivate staff. Newly refurbished meeting and event rooms complemented by inspiring views of Saint Lucia's Marigot Bay – makes us the perfect destination for a corporate event in the Caribbean.”

Understanding that supporting local business is extremely important, Lisa went on to discuss what benefits the ceremony brings to the region. She said: “Events such as the Leicester Mercury Business Awards bring business communities together to meet, network and help and support each other. Something we believe is very important within our own company We are really looking forward to celebrating with everyone on the night and wish all the finalists the very best of luck.”

Lisa then emphasised the ambitions the business has for the next 12 months. She said, “Over the next year we hope to continue providing our clients with the very best customer service and hotel products that the Caribbean has to offer, both for meeting and incentives, but also for leisure and experiential travel.”

Finalists at the ceremony will be welcomed with a Champagne reception upon arrival, before enjoying a stunning three-course meal. Following this, category sponsors will then take to the stage as the awards start to be handed out. On hosting duties this year are TV comedian Mark Dolan and badminton legend Gail Emms MBE who will be making sure the whole evening runs seamlessly.

As well as providing an opportunity to reward companies for their success in the last year, the awards also offer a place for much needed funds to be raised for one of the region’s charities, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young people. The hospice cares for youngsters who are suffering from life-limiting and life-threatening conditions as well a supporting their families. A game of stand-up bingo and a silent auction will take place to raise money for the hospice.
