Morningside Pharmaceuticals shines the light on business entrepreneurs

For over 25 years Morningside Pharmaceuticals has been an award-winning innovator, manufacturer and supplier of high-quality medicines and healthcare products to the UK and international export markets.

Their success has been recognised by many awards, including the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2012 and a Board of Trade Award, by the Department for International Trade, in 2018.
This year, the business has further increased its presence in the business community of Leicestershire by confirming sponsorship of the Business Entrepreneur of the Year category at the annual Leicester Mercury Business Awards.
Award-winning business leader, Dr Nik Kotecha OBE, is the Chief Executive at Morningside Pharmaceuticals. And, as a Board member for the LLEP, Regional Councillor for the CBI and an Export Champion for the Department for International Trade, he is a fundamental part of the local, and national business community.
Recognising the importance of awards such as the Leicester Mercury Business Awards, Dr Kotecha was on-hand to explain their association with the Business Entrepreneur of the Year category:

“The category is close to our hearts at Morningside Pharmaceuticals, as our company was founded in the 1990s through an entrepreneur’s dream of making quality healthcare an affordable and accessible reality throughout the world.

“Since then we have grown from a garage start-up, to a small to medium sized business, to a large corporate, which is now one of the 100 largest companies in Leicestershire.

“We’re delighted to sponsor this award because it recognises the achievements of other entrepreneurs in the county and provides them with a platform to celebrate their achievements.

“Good luck to all of the nominees, in our eyes you’re all winners!”

The business are one of the leading medical suppliers to aid agencies, charities and NGOs – including UNICEF, the Red Cross, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Medicines San Frontier (MSF), which is also known as Doctors Without Borders.
Dr Kotecha further explained the charitable contributions the business makes, as well as the numerous initiatives and sponsorship associations
“We’re proud to be one of the East Midlands’ top 200 fastest growing companies and nationally among the fastest growing privately owned pharmaceuticals businesses in the UK.
“In 2018 Morningside launched our most ambitious sponsorship endeavour to-date, with the renaming of the 3,000 capacity Leicester Arena to the Morningside Arena, Leicester.
“The arena is the home of the UK basketball champions, the Leicester Riders, and as part of our sponsorship provides free community space for charities and community projects.
“Morningside Pharmaceuticals is committed to giving back, so each year we provide a significant budget to support a wide range of good causes connected to sport, education, health and the community.
“We’re immensely proud to work with communities to bring them together and to improve the quality of life of the people living there.”
